Fees -

• The fee for an hour lesson in your home is $50.00. I will be there every other week so please mark your calendar.

Cancellations -

• 1) Students will not be charged for lessons that I cancel.
• 2) When a lesson day falls on Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4, Memorial Day or Labor Day and cannot be conveniently rescheduled, the student will not be charged.
• 3) Lessons canceled by the student must be paid for to keep a time slot. Serious circumstances will receive consideration.

Student requirements -

• Each student should have his or her own instrument. During the first lesson I will inspect the instrument for its playability. If it needs set-up work to play better, I will recommend local, competent repair people. If one needs to be bought I will be happy to offer advice. To make progress, a student should devote at least thirty minutes a day to practice.

Motivation -

• We're excited and eager to practice when we first begin. However, once the initial newness wanes and some basic skills are mastered, practice can become tedious. To stay motivated I encourage students to play guitar with friends, perform for relatives, practice with minus one CD's or get involved with a church music program. Playing a musical instrument helps us express our feelings and can be a great source of comfort, healing and inspiration for ourselves as well as others.

Nonessential, but recommended extras -

• Electronic tuners are inexpensive and once you attain the skills of using one are a quick way to tune up. A music stand places the music upright at the proper viewing angle. A guitar stand is a safe way to have your instrument out and ready to play. An extra set of guitar strings (with even more extra first and second position strings) and picks are good to have on hand. Strings break and picks get lost. A strap makes it possible to play while standing. A capo makes it easy to play open string chords in different keys.
